Pune’s Crosaaintwala & Co Serves Chocolate Croissants, Crumble Egg Specials and Indian-Inspired Flavours
Reported by Shoaib Tadvi
Mohammadwadi, 9th October 2026: Chocolate-filled croissants, scrambled egg croissant sandwiches, chicken tikka fillings and Biscoff desserts are among the offerings at Crosaaintwala & Co, a croissant-focused café located at Royal KP Stellar on NIBM Road in Mohammed Wadi, Pune. The outlet combines French-style pastry preparations with familiar Indian flavours, alongside a menu of sandwiches, desserts, tea and coffee.
Founded by 25-year-old Akshay Sanjay Koli, a Computer Science engineer, Crosaaintwala & Co was developed around the idea of making croissants more accessible to Indian customers. The café serves classic bakery products as well as sweet and savoury variations, positioning the croissant as both a standalone snack and a base for a filling meal.
From Computer Science Engineering to the Food Business
Koli’s entry into the food industry followed a different path from the conventional career route available to a Computer Science graduate. After exploring internships and corporate job opportunities, he decided to build his own venture.
While studying Pune’s café culture, he identified an opportunity in the availability of freshly prepared croissants. Although the city had developed a strong market for coffee, sandwiches and other café offerings, he felt there was scope for a dedicated croissant concept that catered more directly to Indian tastes.
He spent months researching products, studying customer preferences and testing recipes. Family members, friends and customers helped him evaluate different preparations, with feedback used to refine the menu.
The objective was to retain the characteristic flaky texture of a croissant while introducing flavours familiar to Indian consumers. Chicken tikka, paneer tikka, cheese and other savoury fillings became part of this approach, alongside chocolate and dessert-based options.
Chocolate Croissant and Sweet Menu
Chocolate is one of the central offerings at Crosaaintwala & Co. The Chocolate Croissant is listed at ₹170, while other options include Garlic Butter Honey Croissant at ₹245, Mini Chocolate Croissant at ₹250 and Toffee Caramel Croissant at ₹250.
The menu also includes a Butter Croissant, Butter Cheese Croissant, Cheese Croissant, Butter Honey Croissant, Jam Butter Croissant and Maska Croissant.
For customers looking for dessert-style preparations, the café offers Biscoff Croissant, Raspberry Croissant, Peanut Butter Jam Croissant and Croissant Pudding. Its cube-shaped dessert selection includes Chocolate Filled Cube, Chocolate Hazelnut Cube, Chocolate Bombon, Strawberry Cube and Mango Dessert Cube.
These variations extend the menu beyond conventional bakery products, giving customers a choice between simple pastries, chocolate-based treats and more elaborate dessert preparations.
Crumble Egg Croissant and Savoury Specials
The savoury menu is another major part of the café’s offering. The scrambled egg croissant sandwich is among the preparations highlighted in coverage of the business, bringing an egg-based filling into the croissant format.
For customers looking for a more substantial meal, the menu includes Green Chutney Croissant Sandwich, Cheese Green Chutney, Grilled Paneer and Veggie, Creamy Cheesy Mushroom, Paprika Paneer and Creamy Paneer Tikka.
Non-vegetarian options include Desi Chicken Keema, Grilled Chicken and Veggie, Chicken Tikka Sandwich, Paprika Chicken Sandwich and Chicken Tikka Cheese Stuffed.
The Desi Chicken Keema and Paprika Chicken Sandwich are listed at ₹365 each, while the Chicken Tikka Sandwich is priced at ₹360. The Creamy Cheesy Mushroom sandwich is listed at ₹345, and the Grilled Paneer and Veggie option at ₹325.
The combination of egg, cheese, paneer and chicken preparations gives the outlet a menu that caters to customers seeking breakfast, an evening snack or a filling café meal.
Croissants Meet Indian Bakery Staples
The concept also extends to products that combine croissant-style preparation with familiar Indian breads. The menu includes Croissant Paratha Malabar at ₹60 and Butter Croissant Paratha at ₹75, offering alternatives to the conventional pastry format.
Classic croissants are listed at ₹101, while Butter Croissants are priced at ₹125. Mini croissants are also available, providing a smaller option for customers who want to pair a baked snack with tea or coffee.
This mix of traditional and experimental offerings reflects the café’s broader approach: using the croissant as a starting point for different flavours, formats and serving styles rather than limiting it to a European-style breakfast pastry.
Tea, Coffee and Cold Beverages
The beverage menu includes Irani Chai, Ginger Tea, Green Tea, Lemon Tea, Saffron Tea, Special Tea, Black Coffee and Black Tea.
Cold coffee options include Classic Cold Coffee, Chocolate Cookie Cold Coffee, Hazelnut Coffee, Iced Coffee and Irish Coffee. Milkshakes and non-alcoholic drinks include Bombay Coconut Bliss Milkshake, Tango Mango Shake, Very Berry Shake, Minty Mood Mojito, Passion Punch and Melon Melody.
The range allows customers to combine savoury croissant sandwiches with hot beverages or choose a sweet pastry with coffee, a milkshake or another cold drink.
Vintage Interiors With a Railway Theme
Crosaaintwala & Co has adopted an interior design inspired by old-world Irani cafés and railway stations. Vintage-style elements and train-themed décor distinguish the outlet from conventional contemporary cafés.
The design reflects the intention to create a setting that feels familiar to Indian customers, even when the food itself may be less familiar to some visitors. The concept brings together the visual language of traditional cafés and a menu centred on French-style pastries.
Early Starts, Team Development and Expansion Plans
Koli’s involvement in the business extends to its daily operations. He begins his day at the bakery at around 4.30 am, reflecting the preparation and operational demands of running a food venture.
The business also employs team members from financially challenging backgrounds, including people who contribute to their family incomes and those who depend on their earnings to continue their education.
Looking ahead, the plans discussed for the venture include expanding the menu to introduce pizzas and pastas while continuing to develop new croissant varieties and desserts. Franchise discussions have also been initiated, indicating ambitions to take the concept beyond its existing outlet.
