Akurdi, 11th October 2026: A minor argument over stopping a vehicle briefly along a commercial street escalated into a dangerous confrontation in the Akurdi Market area, after a local shopkeeper picked up a heavy concrete paving block and threatened to smash a family’s car.

A woman seated inside recorded the entire ordeal on her smartphone, and the video has since circulated widely on social media, drawing strong public condemnation.

Details of the Incident

According to the video, the incident occurred outside Shivraj Arts near the Ambika Collection landmark in the Akurdi Market area. A family had stopped their car along the curbside to run a quick errand. While one family member went inside an adjoining shop, the driver and a female relative remained seated in the vehicle with the ignition on.

Moments later, a neighboring shop owner approached the vehicle, aggressively questioning why the car had pulled up near his storefront and demanding that they immediately clear the space.

When the occupants explained that the vehicle was not abandoned and that they were moving out within minutes, the situation turned hostile.

The shopkeeper picked up a massive concrete paver block from the footpath, raised it over his shoulder, and walked menacingly towards the driver-side door, threatening to shatter the windows and physically assault them.

Heated Exchange and Police Alerted

Even as the woman pointed out that the road was public property and objected to his aggressive conduct towards a female passenger, the shopkeeper continued shouting abuses, questioning their right to stop in front of commercial premises.

When a couple of local bystanders attempted to intervene, the car driver placed a phone call directly to the police control room, reporting the intimidation and the threat of property damage.

Local citizens and motorists have urged Pimpri-Chinchwad police to take stern legal action against such aggressive street bullying and intimidation, emphasizing that disputes over parking on public roads cannot be met with weapon-wielding aggression.
