Pune: SPPU Teachers Threaten Protest Over alleged Political Interference

Pune, 14th October 2026: Alleging growing political interference in the university’s functioning and inadequate support for faculty members, the Savitribai Phule Pune University Teachers’ Association has threatened to stage a mass reading protest outside the university building.

In a statement, the association said the prevailing situation was undermining the university’s academic standards and administrative functioning.

Meanwhile, an SPPU security official has lodged an FIR against two male students under Section 329(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for allegedly trespassing through the gate of the girls’ hostel on October 11. The incident occurred on the night the same students allegedly engaged in moral policing of a female student.
