Income Tax Raids Hit Popular Sandeep Hotel Group in Ahilyanagar, Pune
Pune/Ahilyanagar, 15th October 2026: The Income Tax Department launched searches at multiple locations linked to the popular Sandeep Hotel Group, associated with former Ahilyanagar mayor Sandeep Kotkar and senior leader Bhanudas Kotkar.
A team from Pune began simultaneous searches around 8 am on Wednesday, October 14, at three prominent hotels—Hotel Sachin, Hotel Udayanraje and Sandeep Pride—as well as business premises and residences linked to the group.
The searches reportedly continued for over 12 hours, with officials examining financial transactions, documents and digital records linked to the group’s hotel businesses. Searches were also conducted at Kotkar’s residence in Kedgaon, the home of a hotel manager and the residence of a construction businessman associated with the group.
The group operates several hotels in Ahilyanagar and Pune and is well known for its popular dining establishments.
The family had also attracted attention last year following reports of the purchase of a seven-seater helicopter.
The Income Tax Department has not yet issued an official statement on the reason for the searches or confirmed whether any tax evasion or undisclosed assets have been detected.
The operation has drawn considerable attention in political and business circles, with further details awaited. Sandip Hotel is popular among the non-veg food lovers and their branches, particularly the one located in Ahilyanagar on Pune road and the other branch located on the JM road in Pune city.
