Pune, 15th October 2026: Frequent and prolonged power outages lasting eight to 14 hours have left residents of Bhosari, Dehu, Yelwadi and surrounding areas struggling, with the disruptions affecting households, businesses, students and agricultural activities. Residents have demanded that the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) take immediate steps to ensure an uninterrupted power supply, with an action committee warning of a road blockade on Friday if the situation does not improve.

In Bhosari, residents have complained of repeated outages even as temperatures remain high in October. The disruptions have made daily activities difficult, particularly for women observing fasts during Navratri. With fans remaining switched off for hours, households are struggling with the heat, food preparation and keeping drinking water cool. Residents returning home after work have also found it difficult to rest.

Residents have questioned why the power supply is interrupted so frequently and why restoration takes several hours despite repeated complaints. They have urged the electricity distribution company to identify the causes and ensure a reliable supply.

In Dehu, Yelwadi and neighbouring villages, the situation has reportedly been worse in some areas, with outages lasting eight to 10 hours and, in certain places, extending to 14 consecutive hours.

In a representation to MSEDCL officials, Nitin Gade of the Talegaon-Chakan Highway Action Committee said the disruptions were affecting students, farmers, hospitals, medical stores, businesses, senior citizens and homemakers. Frequent power fluctuations and low voltage have added to the problems, while interruptions have also caused agricultural water pumps to stop working.

The committee has demanded that MSEDCL investigate the recurring outages and undertake urgent technical measures. It has also called for a fixed schedule for planned maintenance, with advance notice to residents, instead of power cuts between 10am and 5.30pm without adequate information.

The committee has warned that it will stage a road blockade on Friday if the electricity supply in Dehu, Yelwadi and surrounding villages is not restored to normal. Copies of its representation have been sent to the chief minister, the deputy chief minister, the local MLA, revenue officials and the police.
