Pune: Car Overturns on Undri Road, Residents Demand Urgent Road Repairs
Undri, 17th October 2026: A car overturned on Undri Road near The Corinthians Club on Saturday morning, prompting residents to renew their demand for urgent reconstruction of the stretch between Nyati Estate and Punekar Chowk.
Residents have raised concerns over the deteriorating road surface, pointing to multiple cracks and the growing volume of traffic on the route. They have urged the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to expedite reconstruction, saying routine repairs have failed to address the problem.
The movement of heavy vehicles, including ready-mix concrete trucks and water tankers, has emerged as another concern. Residents have called on the civic body and Pune Traffic Police to take measures against speeding and other unsafe driving practices on the stretch. They have also alleged that some motorists use mobile phones while driving, increasing the risk to other road users.
The road caters to a rapidly developing part of Undri, where expanding residential complexes and commercial establishments have increased traffic demand. Residents say infrastructure improvements have not kept pace with the area’s growth, leaving commuters to navigate an increasingly problematic stretch.
During an earlier visit to the area, Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishor Ram had assured residents that the road would be reconstructed. Residents are now seeking a definite timeline for the project and want the PMC to initiate the work without further delay.
They have also stressed the need for an effective traffic management plan during construction to minimise inconvenience to commuters.
