Pisoli, 18th October 2026: A fire incident at Gagan Lawish Cooperative Housing Society in Pisoli on October 17 has raised concerns over fire safety arrangements and the maintenance of essential facilities within the residential complex.

The incident reportedly occurred at around 9:45 pm, when, according to residents, the society’s fire safety system failed to function properly. The alleged failure has raised questions about the preparedness of the housing society to deal with fire emergencies and ensure the safety of residents.

Residents have reportedly been seeking audits of the society’s accounts, fire safety systems and other amenities for several months. However, some members have alleged that the managing committee has been reluctant to provide the requested information, raising concerns about transparency and accountability in the society’s administration.

Following these concerns, society members approached the District Deputy Registrar (DDR), seeking intervention in the matter and greater transparency in the management of the housing society.

The reported failure of the fire safety system has further highlighted the need for regular inspections, proper maintenance of firefighting equipment and compliance with applicable fire safety requirements in residential buildings.

Residents have called for the matter to be investigated by the competent authorities, with accountability established wherever lapses are found. A thorough assessment of the society’s fire safety infrastructure is essential to ensure that emergency equipment remains operational and residents are adequately protected.

The incident has brought renewed attention to residents’ concerns regarding safety, maintenance and transparency in the management of Gagan Lawish Cooperative Housing Society.
