Pune, 19th October 2026: Water from the Chaskaman dam will not be diverted to Pimpri Chinchwad, and Khed taluka will be given priority in water allocation, Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Babaji Kale said, dismissing speculation about a possible diversion to the industrial city.

Kale said water distribution would follow the existing plan, taking into account the drinking water reserved in the Bhama Askhed and Kalmodi dams. He also clarified that water connections would not be discontinued until the rabi season.

Kale, accompanied by Zilla Parishad member Deepti Bhogade, inspected the Kharpudi weir, which was damaged by heavy rainfall. He assured that repairs would be completed and water impounded within eight days.

He directed officials to replace the old iron gates and use excavated soil to fill agricultural land washed away by heavy rainfall. The repair work should be completed within eight to 10 days, he said.

Several local representatives and residents were present during the inspection.
