Pune: Drunk Woman Slaps Woman Constable in Koregaon Park, Case Registered

Pune, 20th October 2026: A 48-year-old woman allegedly abused and slapped a woman police constable after she refused to give her a lighter to light a cigarette in Koregaon Park around 12.30am on Sunday.

The accused, Sheetal More, a resident of Hadapsar and a manager at a private firm, allegedly approached constable Yayati Bamane, 30, who was on night patrol duty. Bamane was sitting in a police patrol van parked by the roadside due to a traffic jam when the woman asked for a lighter.

When the constable questioned her, the woman allegedly abused her and slapped her on the cheek. Bamane subsequently lodged a complaint at the Koregaon Park police station.

Police detained the accused and took her for a medical examination. Her preliminary test was positive for alcohol, police said. She was later released.

Police said the woman provided a misleading residential address and switched off her cellphone. They are trying to trace her to record her statement.
