Mohammadwadi, 21st October 2026: The pending road work near Palace Orchid Society in Ward 41 has raised concerns among residents of the Mohammadwadi–Undri area, with citizens demanding that the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) clarify when the project will begin and provide a definite timeline for its completion.

According to local social worker Aftab Raza, the tendering process for the road work has reportedly been completed, but work on the stretch remains pending. Residents have called for greater accountability from the civic administration, citing concerns over road safety and the daily difficulties faced by commuters.

“The tendering process has reportedly been completed, but the road work near Palace Orchid Society is still pending. The PMC must clarify when the work will begin and announce a definite deadline for its completion,” said social worker Aftab Raza.

The road near Palace Orchid Society serves several residential communities and is located close to Vibgyor School and Sanskriti School. It also connects to the Bishop’s School–Undri route, which is used by students, parents and daily commuters.

Concerns over road safety in the area persist following a fatal accident on NIBM Road on May 21, 2023. A multi-vehicle collision reportedly occurred after a mini-bus suffered brake failure, resulting in two deaths and injuries to several others.

Residents have also raised concerns about the condition of the alternative route near Dorabjee Mall, which they say is in poor condition. The situation has heightened concerns among commuters who depend on these roads for their daily travel.

“Residents deserve safe roads and accountability from the civic administration. The PMC must prioritise the pending road work, repair the alternative route near Dorabjee Mall and address road safety concerns, especially on routes used by schoolchildren,” residents said in their demand for action.

Citizens are demanding that the PMC immediately commence the pending road work, disclose the contractor’s details and announce a clear completion deadline. They have also called for urgent repairs to the alternative route near Dorabjee Mall and a comprehensive road safety audit, particularly on routes used by schoolchildren.

Residents have urged the civic administration to address the issue without further delay, stressing that road infrastructure projects must be completed on time to ensure public safety.

The key questions raised by citizens remain when the road work will begin, what the completion deadline is and what steps the PMC will take to improve road safety in the area.
