RIIM Pune Students Explore Global Learning Opportunities During Six-Day Educational Tour to the UAE
Pune, 23rd October 2026: Learning beyond the classroom plays an important role in helping management students understand different cultures, business environments and global opportunities. With this objective, Ramachandran International Institute of Management (RIIM Pune) organised a Six-day educational and cultural tour to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), giving students an opportunity to experience the region’s cultural diversity, modern infrastructure and business landscape.
The tour covered the vibrant cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, combining cultural exploration, industry exposure, educational visits and recreational activities. It offered students an opportunity to connect their academic learning with real-world experiences while gaining a broader understanding of international environments.
Throughout the journey, the students were accompanied and guided by Chairperson Prof. Dr. Suraj Sharma, Director Dr. Ajit Sane, Chief Mentor Retd. IPS Shri Rajendra Singh, and Dean Dr. Manisha Saxena. Their presence and guidance added to the educational value of the tour and helped make the experience memorable for the participating students.
Exploring the UAE’s Cultural and Architectural Heritage
The visit introduced students to some of the UAE’s most recognised landmarks, offering insights into its cultural diversity, architectural achievements and social development.
At the magnificent Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, students experienced the beauty of Islamic architecture and learned about the cultural significance of one of the country’s prominent landmarks. The visit to the BAPS Hindu Temple offered another perspective on faith, community and cultural coexistence in the UAE.
Students also visited the iconic Burj Khalifa in Dubai, an internationally recognised symbol of modern architecture and urban development. The experience provided an opportunity to appreciate the scale of the city’s development and its position as a global destination for business, tourism and innovation.
These visits helped students appreciate how culture, heritage and modern development can coexist within an internationally connected society.
Experiencing Dubai Beyond the Tourist Attractions
The tour also included experiences that allowed students to explore the UAE’s traditions and hospitality beyond its well-known landmarks.
A Dhow Cruise along Dubai Creek offered students a memorable evening featuring traditional hospitality, cultural performances and local cuisine. The experience provided a glimpse into Dubai’s connection with its waterways and its cultural heritage.
The Desert Safari added an adventurous element to the journey. Students experienced dune bashing, watched the sun set over the desert landscape and enjoyed a barbecue dinner under the Arabian sky.
Together, these activities created opportunities for students to interact with one another, experience local traditions and build lasting memories outside the academic environment.

Industry Visits and Exposure to the Business Environment
An important component of the tour was its focus on industry exposure and practical learning. Students attended sessions at Etisalat Academy and participated in industry visits designed to introduce them to the UAE’s business ecosystem, technological developments and innovation-driven environment.
The visit to the Teleios factory provided further exposure to industrial operations and global business practices. Such experiences can help management students better understand how organisations function, how industries operate and how businesses respond to changing market conditions.
For students preparing for professional careers, exposure to international business environments can offer a useful perspective on the differences and similarities between domestic and global markets. It also encourages them to think more broadly about career opportunities, professional expectations and the skills needed to work in an interconnected economy.
Learning Through Experience
Educational tours can offer lessons that are difficult to replicate entirely within a classroom. Observing different cultures, visiting industrial facilities and experiencing another country’s infrastructure allows students to connect academic concepts with practical situations.
The UAE tour gave RIIM Pune students an opportunity to develop a broader global outlook while experiencing a combination of cultural learning, industry exposure and personal interaction.
Travelling together also provided opportunities for students to develop independence, adaptability, teamwork and an appreciation of different perspectives. These experiences form a valuable part of the wider learning journey for students preparing to enter the professional world.
For RIIM Pune, the tour reflects the importance of giving students opportunities to learn through direct exposure to different environments and experiences.
RIIM Pune’s Focus on Holistic Management Education
RIIM Pune continues to emphasise experiential learning as an important part of student development. By combining classroom education with industry interactions, cultural exposure and practical experiences, the institute aims to help students develop a more comprehensive understanding of the professional world.
International educational visits offer one way of achieving this objective. They allow students to observe different approaches to business and development while gaining a better understanding of the cultural and economic factors that influence international markets.
The six-day UAE tour brought these elements together through visits to important landmarks, educational sessions, industry exposure and cultural activities. For the participating students, it was an opportunity to learn, explore and gain experiences that could influence their personal and professional growth.
Introducing the PGDM + SAP – CXOs Program
Alongside its focus on experiential learning, RIIM Pune has also initiated the PGDM + SAP – CXOs program, pioneered and led by Prof. Dr. Suraj Sharma, Chairperson, RIIM Pune.
The initiative reflects the institute’s continued interest in connecting management education with industry-oriented learning and professional development.
The UAE tour stands as an example of RIIM Pune’s efforts to extend learning beyond conventional academic settings. By exposing students to international cultures, industrial environments and global perspectives, the institute aims to help them approach future opportunities with greater awareness and confidence.
Ultimately, the six-day educational and cultural tour was more than a visit to another country. It offered students an opportunity to experience a different environment, understand new perspectives and create memories while learning together.
For the students of RIIM Pune, the journey to Dubai and Abu Dhabi served as a reminder that management education extends beyond textbooks and lectures. Experiences, exposure and the willingness to learn from the world around us are equally important in preparing the next generation of professionals and leaders.
