Pune: Customer Claims Spider Found in Haldiram’s Mixture, Seeks FDA Action

Pune, 27th October 2026: A Pune resident has claimed that he found a spider inside a packet of Haldiram’s ‘Mixture Farsan’ and has urged the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to investigate the matter and take appropriate action if any violations are found.
Kaivalya Pethkar, a resident of Warje, said he had purchased the snack packet and was about to open it when his son brought it to him. While checking the contents before consumption, Pethkar allegedly spotted an insect resembling a spider inside the packet.
“Fortunately, I checked it before eating and noticed what appeared to be a spider inside. This is a serious matter, and if food products are reaching consumers in this condition, it raises concerns about food safety,” Pethkar said.
Following the incident, Pethkar has demanded that the FDA take serious note of the complaint, collect and test a sample of the product, and examine its batch details and manufacturing process.
He has also called for appropriate legal action against the company if any violations of food safety regulations are established during the investigation.
Pethkar emphasised that the matter concerns consumer health and urged the authorities to investigate the complaint promptly. The allegation has not been independently verified.
