Wadachiwadi, 29th October 2026: The poor condition of the Wadachiwadi crematorium has raised concerns over the lack of basic facilities, with inadequate water supply and poor cleanliness making it difficult for grieving families to perform the last rites of their loved ones with dignity.

The crematorium premises are reportedly not being maintained properly, while the absence of adequate water has added to the difficulties faced by families during funeral rituals.

Ward 41 Corporator Nivrutti Anna Bandal has called for urgent intervention to address the civic issues at the crematorium and ensure that essential facilities are made available to residents.

“Providing basic facilities at a crematorium is a civic responsibility. Families should not have to face additional difficulties while performing the last rites of their loved ones. The concerned departments must take immediate steps to ensure adequate water supply, cleanliness and regular maintenance of the premises,” Bandal said.

The situation has highlighted concerns over the maintenance of public cremation facilities and the need for the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to ensure that such essential infrastructure remains functional and hygienic.

Residents expect the civic administration to take prompt corrective measures, including restoring a reliable water supply, cleaning the premises and implementing regular maintenance to prevent the problems from recurring.

Ensuring dignified facilities for the last rites of the deceased remains a basic civic responsibility, and the condition of the Wadachiwadi crematorium requires urgent attention.
