Pune, 31st October 2026: Nine people were fined Rs 1,000 each by a court in Shivajinagar for creating a ruckus and obstructing judicial proceedings after a dispute between them escalated into a scuffle inside the courtroom on Friday.

The commotion disrupted court proceedings for nearly 10 minutes. Taking serious note of the incident, First Class Judicial Magistrate G R Dornalpalle held the nine people guilty of obstructing official work and committing contempt of court, and imposed the fine. They were also remanded to judicial custody.

The incident occurred when the complainant and accused in a case registered at Samarth police station were present in court for a hearing. An argument broke out between them, which had apparently begun outside the courtroom and continued after they returned inside. The dispute escalated into pushing and shoving, disrupting the proceedings.

Public prosecutor Yogesh Kadam argued that creating a disturbance inside the courtroom and obstructing judicial work were serious offences. The court accepted the submission and imposed the fine.

The court also ordered that those who fail to pay the fine would have to undergo simple imprisonment for one month. The police have registered a case against the accused at Shivajinagar police station.
