Gultekdi, 3rd November 2026: Severe traffic congestion at the Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) Market Yard in Gultekdi has raised concerns over traffic management and public safety amid the ongoing festive rush.

The increased movement of heavy trucks, tempos and supply vehicles carrying grains, dry fruits, groceries and seasonal produce has reportedly brought traffic movement to a standstill at several locations within the market premises. All major entry and exit points, including Gates 1 to 5, are reportedly witnessing heavy congestion.

Narrow internal roads have been blocked by vehicles parked indiscriminately, restricting the movement of other vehicles and creating bottlenecks across the market. The reported absence of adequate traffic police personnel and APMC security marshals at key junctions has further aggravated the situation.

Traders and local volunteers have reportedly been attempting to regulate traffic manually, but the lack of official support and coordinated arrangements has made it difficult to manage the increasing vehicle movement.

In a formal complaint addressed to the APMC administration, Pune Traffic Police and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials, immediate intervention has been sought to address the situation. The demands include deploying dedicated traffic personnel at all major gates and internal junctions, regulating loading and unloading timings for heavy vehicles, removing illegally parked vehicles and implementing a one-way traffic circulation system within the market premises.

Concerns have also been raised over the possibility of ambulances and fire brigade vehicles facing difficulties accessing the market due to blocked internal roads.

With festive business activity at its peak and the arrival of supply vehicles continuing, the traffic situation has raised questions about preparedness and enforcement within one of Pune’s major wholesale trading hubs. Traders and market users are now awaiting intervention from the concerned authorities to restore smooth traffic movement and prevent further inconvenience.
