Pune, 4th November 2026: Nationalist Congress Party (SP) chief Sharad Pawar was discharged from Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune on Wednesday after two days of hospitalisation following complaints of chest pain.

“Mr Sharad Pawar has been discharged from Ruby Hall Clinic today. He is stable and doing well. He will be travelling directly from the hospital to his residence in Mumbai,” said Dr Purvez K Grant, chief cardiologist, chairman and managing trustee of the hospital, in an official statement.

The 85-year-old leader was admitted to the hospital on Monday evening (November 2) for a general health check-up and medical observation after experiencing pleuritic pain. The admission followed a bout of cough, with his daughter and NCP (SP) working president Supriya Sule stating that he was undergoing medical tests and that all his health parameters were stable.

The hospital had said his condition was expected to settle down and that he would be kept under observation as a precautionary measure. On Tuesday, doctors said his condition was stable and the pain had subsided, indicating that he was likely to be discharged the following day.

Pleuritic pain refers to chest pain that typically worsens while breathing, coughing or sneezing.
