Spying: Two Youths Booked Under Official Secrets Act For Voice Recording Of Policeman On Phone

Pimpri Chinchwad, October 28, 2020: Two youths have been booked under the Official Secrets Act by the Pimpri Chinchwad police for allegedly recording the conversation with a policeman on a mobile phone. The two youths have been charged for spying and interfering with police work.

As per the FIR, the incident took place around 1.30 pm at Dehuroad police station on October 26. Kailash Chavan (32) and Tushar Chavan, both residents of Dehugaon, were called for signing good behaviour bond as a preventive action. However, one of them started secretly recording the conversation between them and Police Naik Anil Jagtap.

When Jagtap learnt about it, he lodged a complaint and the FIR was registered for offences under sections 3 (penalties for spying) and 7 (interfering with officers of the police or members of the Armed Forces of the Union) of the Official Secrets Act and section 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
