PCMC Takes Over Auto Cluster COVID Centre From Sparsh Hospital Management After Police Commissioner Warned Of Law And Order Issue

Pimpri, 9th May 2021: After a warning from Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash about the law and order problem if action was not taken immediately, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) today acquired the management of Auto Cluster Covid Hospital, Chinchwad.

In the last one week, four doctors including two from Auto Cluster Hospital have been arrested for taking Rs one lakh from relatives of a patient for providing a ventilator bed and one staff (brother) has been arrested for selling Remdesivir injections in the open market.

In an order to Sparsh Hospital CEO Dr Amol Holkunde, PCMC Commissioner Rajesh Patil stated, “Sparsh Hospital which was looking after the management of PCMC’s Auto Cluster COVID Hospital has been found to be violating the agreement. PCMC has set up emergency medical facilities like Jumbo Covid Hospital and Auto Cluster Covid Hospital with the objective of providing free and accessible medical facilities to the citizens of Pimpri Chinchwad and providing good quality patient care. For this, PCMC has provided you all the basic facilities, oxygen, medicines as well as all kinds of equipment/consumables, medical facilities from time to time. But, M/s Sparsh Hospital appears to have completely failed in its duties.”

He further stated that even after pointing out the lapses and involvement of staff in criminal activities, “there was inferior quality supervision by the Sparsh Hospital management as they failed to curb the criminal acts defaming the humanity in times of pandemic.”

PCMC has acquired the management of Auto Cluster Covid Hospital with immediate effect from Sparsh Hospital. “I am also acquiring the services of doctors, medical and other officers and staff of Sparsh Hospital as well as other institutions. Every person serving in Auto Cluster Covid Hospital will continue to work under the management of PCMC temporarily till Auto Cluster Covid Hospital is operational or till further orders”, Patil further stated.

Now, he has authorised the following officers of PCMC to operate all kinds of facilities for the smooth running of Auto Cluster Covid Hospital.

Additional Commissioner Ulhas Jagtap will be the Chief Coordinating Officer and in-charge Auto Cluster Covid Hospital. Dr Abhaychandra Dadewar will be the Medical Coordinator and in-charge of Medical Services. The other staff include Professor Dr Manjit Santre, Associate Professor Dr Santosh Thorat, Assistant Professor Dr Atul Desale, Medical Officer Dr Shagun Pise and Associate Professor Dr Anand Karle. They are from YCM Hospital’s Post-Graduate Institute.

PCMC Commissioner has also issued a show-cause notice to Sparsh Hospital CEO Dr Holkunde as to why Sparsh Hospital should not be blacklisted and criminal legal action taken against him and his staff for harassment of patients and their relatives as well as causing disrepute to PCMC. Dr Holkunde has to reply to the notice within four days.

All the officers/employees working at Auto Cluster Covid Hospital today will be paid the salary/allowances by PCMC. Nobody will lose their job without the order of the PCMC Commissioner, the order concluded.

Dr Holkunde had earlier denied the involvement of his staff and said that private hospitals took money from the patients and their relatives.
