New Delhi, February 19, 2021: The border dispute between India and China now appears to be resolved. Meanwhile, China has formally confessed for the first time that its soldiers were killed in the ferocious conflict in Galwan Valley in June last year.

The Chinese military has claimed that four of its soldiers were killed in the Galwan valley conflict. However, the number disclosed by the People’s Liberation Army is relatively low because many agencies around the world, including India, had reported it much higher. In June last year, 20 soldiers of India were martyred in the Galwan conflict.

Even though China has accepted the casualties, the numbers cannot be considered the truth. According to reports from other countries, the number of deaths is much higher. India also claimed that more than 40 Chinese soldiers were killed in the Galwan conflict. Not only this, recently, Russian news agency TASS contended that at least 45 Chinese soldiers were also killed in the Galwan Valley skirmish on 15 June. Earlier, many such reports were disclosed, but China had not yet officially accepted its soldiers’ death.

According to the Chinese Communist Party mouthpiece Global Times, China’s Central Military Commission has recalled and honored the sacrifice of five Chinese soldiers posted on the Karakoram Mountains. China has also shared the names of the soldiers killed in the conflict. According to which the PLA Xinjiang Military Command’s regimental commander Qi Fabao, Chen Hongun, Xiangong, Xiao Siuan, and Wang Zhuoran died in the conflict.

Citing the PLA’s daily report, the Global Times reported that four of its soldiers were killed in the Galwan bloody conflict, while one was killed in a bloody skirmish in Galwan by drifting in the river during the rescue. China has written about its soldiers that these soldiers gave up their lives while protecting national sovereignty and land. The Galwan conflict between India and China was the biggest bloody conflict in 45 years.

The clash on 15 June 2020 was the largest since 1967. More than 300 Chinese soldiers were killed, and nearly 80 Indian soldiers were martyred in Nathu La’s conflict of 1967. After this, in 1975, an Indian soldier was killed in a violent clash with the Chinese army. In 1975, four Indian soldiers were killed in an ambush in Tulung La, Arunachal Pradesh, near the temporary border between the two countries.
