Kathak Guru Felicitated with VIMAL BHASKAR AWARD
6 FEB 2019 : Nandkishore Cultural Society has felicitated Kathak exponent of the Raigarh Gharana, Pt. Ramlal Bareth as well as his wife Smt. Mathuradevi Bareth, with the VIMAL BHASKAR AWARD on Sunday, 3rd February, 2019 at Nandkishore Auditorium, Nigdi. At the ceremony, honorable ex-MLA Shri Ulhas Pawar handed over the cash award of Rs.25,000, Award Trophy and Plaque, shawl, flower garland and bouquet to the recipients. Present were Maharastra Rajya Sanskrutik Puruskar Awardee Dr. Pt. Nandkishore Kapote, Prof. Khude Patil, Shri Rajendra Kapote, Chairman of Maharastra Government Police Mitra Organization as well as Corporator Smt. Suman Pawle. In his speech, Shri Ulhas Pawar said that everyone knows the saying that behind every successful man is a woman, and by giving this award to Smt. Mathuradevi, wife of Pt. Ramlal Bareth, Dr. Pt. Nandkishore Kapote has recognized the adage and it is a moment of great pride. Pt. Ramlal Bareth in this acceptance speech said, ‘The Vimal Bhaskar Award has been given earlier to Kathak Queen Sitara Devi and Pt. Birju Maharaj and it is with great pleasure that I accept this award today’’. Pt. Ramlal added that Kathak was his life and he is happy that Dr. Pt. Nandkishore Kapote has taken great strides in this field and is promoting this art through his education, research and training institution. Earlier in the day Pt. Ramlal conducted a workshop on the nuances of Raigarh Gharana of Kathak, enlightened students with it’s history and taught the old dance compositions of the Raigarh Gharana founder Raja Chakradhar (1905-1947) such as the ‘Dal Badal Paran’, ‘ShivTandav Avtaran/Amad’ and ‘Maitra Varun Paran’.
