NIA Urges Tourists, Locals to Share Photos, Videos of Pahalgam Terror Attack for Crucial Clues

New Delhi, 7th May 2025: In a bid to leave no stone unturned in the investigation of the brutal Pahalgam terror attack, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has issued an urgent appeal to tourists, locals, and visitors who may possess any photographs, videos, or information linked to the April 22 massacre.
The NIA, which is leading the probe into the attack that claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians, including several tourists, is intensifying its efforts to gather all possible evidence. The agency has already collected a large number of digital files capturing various aspects of the attack and is now calling on the public to assist further.
“Even the smallest detail—something seen, heard, or recorded unintentionally—could help us identify the attackers or decode their planning and execution,” an NIA official stated.
In an announcement released through its official website and social media platforms, the NIA has asked individuals who were in or around Pahalgam before or during the attack to contact the agency at 9654958816 (mobile) or 011-24368800 (landline). Callers are requested to provide their contact details and describe the kind of information or media they wish to share. A senior official will follow up to coordinate the collection of relevant material.
The agency’s teams have been stationed in Pahalgam since the attack, examining the site and interviewing eyewitnesses. Investigators believe that photos or videos, even those shared casually on social media, may hold critical visual or audio clues about the attackers’ identities, movements, or escape route.
“This was an unprecedented, targeted attack on unarmed tourists. We are treating it as a crime against humanity,” an official added. “Several videos and images have surfaced online since the incident. We are committed to reviewing each one forensically to reconstruct the sequence of events and trace every lead.”
The NIA is also exploring whether any local assistance was provided to the attackers, who allegedly mocked their victims before opening fire. Eyewitness accounts suggest the assailants may have posed as guides or blended in with other civilians.
As public outrage continues over the shocking incident, the central government has vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice. Operation Sindoor, launched as a retaliatory strike by Indian forces on terrorist camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, has already sent a strong signal.
