Pune: Land Acquisition for Katraj Chowk Flyover to Be Completed in 15 Days – PMC Commissioner

Katraj, 19th December 2024: The long-delayed construction of the flyover at Katraj Chowk is set to gain momentum as the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) accelerates the land acquisition process. Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale announced that the required land acquisition will be completed within the next 15 days, utilizing ₹140 crore granted by the state government for the Katraj-Kondhwa Road project.
To facilitate the construction of the flyover, service roads will be built on both sides. However, the project has been delayed primarily due to incomplete land acquisition for the Katraj-Kondhwa Road. Initially, an 84-meter-wide road was planned, but escalating land acquisition costs led the PMC to scale down the plan to a 50-meter-wide road.
The stalled roadwork has caused severe traffic congestion in Katraj, affecting daily commuters and local residents. Despite the availability of funds, delays in land acquisition have hampered progress. Commissioner Dr. Bhosale recently convened a meeting with the concerned landowners and PMC officials to expedite the process, issuing directives for urgent action.
The Commissioner also met with landowners affected by the construction of the ramp towards Kondhwa as part of the flyover project. He emphasized that the ₹140 crore grant would be utilized exclusively for this land acquisition, ensuring there are no further delays.
The completion of this phase of land acquisition is expected to significantly advance the flyover project, easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity in the Katraj and Kondhwa areas. The project’s progress marks a critical step in addressing the infrastructure challenges faced by one of Pune’s busiest intersections.
With land acquisition set to conclude within two weeks, the PMC aims to bring long-awaited relief to the residents of Katraj while paving the way for smoother traffic flow in the region.
