Amma presented with Kathak repertoire by Maharashtra State Rajya Puraskar Awardee Dr. Pt. Nandkishore Kapote

4 March 2019, Pune – On Amma (Mata Amrityanandamayi’s) recent visit to her ashram in Nigdi, she was presented with a Classical Kathak dance performance by Maharashtra State Rajya Puraskar Awardee Dr. Pt. Nandkishore Kapote. His beautiful performance was much appreciated by Amma. Dr. Kapote presented a number of classical choreographies from his repertoire such as Abhangs: ‘Baje re muraliya’, ‘Kaanada Raja Pundarika’; Gat Bhavs: ‘Makhan Chori’, ‘Radha Krishna Ched Chad’; Sound of one Bell and ‘Jugal Bandi’ as well as technical foot-work. These pieces demonstrated Dr. Kapote’s extraordinary virtuosity in expression as well as technique. The audience that included art connoisseurs and Amma’s foreign devotees were also entranced. Amma blessed Dr. Kapote and declared that his presentation was wondrous. Dr. Kapote was accompanied by his musician team Santosh Salve and Yash Kamble on Tabla, Prashanth Pawar on Vocals, Santosh Ghante on Harmonium, Akshaye Yende on Cymbals (manjira) and Nilesh Kute as Sutradhar.
