Pune: 19th September: Although urban areas generally have good infrastructure facilities, many times the poorer sections of the society cannot afford the doctor’s fees and the high cost of medicines. Often the high concentration of population located in an area does not have sufficient doctors in the vicinity. Similarly, the cost of transporting poor patients for treatment to government hospitals becomes a hurdle.
Jankidevi Bajaj Gram Vikas Sanstha (JBGVS) – a Bajaj Group NGO – has come up with a solution to these problems in the poorer areas of Pimpri-Chinchwad by introducing a mobile clinic. JBGVS has been actively working in the areas of health, education, environment, economic development and social development for the past 30 years.
Mobile clinic at your doorstep
The mobile clinic of JBGVS has recently launched its visits to reach out to the patients in economically poorer areas of Pimpri-Chinchwad. This mobile clinic operating out of a van will regularly visit areas like Durganagar, Ambedkarnagar, Ajanthanagar, Laltopinagar, Vetalnagar, Vidyanagar, Ramnagar and Ota Scheme. The timetable for visit to these areas would be declared soon.
Explaining about this new initiative, Mr Partha Sarathi Mukherjee, Secretary, JBGVS, said, “The mobile clinic of JBGVS that has been providing medical services in the rural areas of Khed and Maval talukas has now arrived in Pimpri-Chinchwad. It will cater to the patients in poorer areas from Tuesday to Saturday.”
Medical facilities in mobile clinic
A doctor and a nurse will accompany the mobile clinic on every round. It is well equipped with first aid box; all basic medicines; facilities to measure blood pressure, blood sugar and pulse rate and other basic medical equipment. Tablets, other medicines, injections and other basic medical facilities will be provided to poor patients at nominal rates. There will also be awareness sessions on disease prevention and cleanliness. If any major illness is diagnosed, such patients will be guided to visit big hospitals.

JBGVS urges people residing in the above mentioned areas to take benefit of the mobile clinic as per the day and time that will be allocated. For more information about the mobile clinic, people can enquire at JBGVS Samaj Seva Kendra in Akurdi on the number 020-27242403 during office hours.
