More than 60 school and college teacher’s presence for an awareness on Breast and Cervical Cancer organized by Zen Hospital

4 FEB 2019 Mumbai: On occasion of World Cancers Day; Zen Multi specialty Hospital conducted an awareness session for more than 60 school and college teachers along with free PAP smear test at Hospital, Chembur. A team of Oncologist Drs including Gynecologist Dr Veena Aurangabadwala, Oncologist Dr Tanveer Majheed, Oncologist Dr Advait Gore and Oncologist Dr Nilesh Lokeshwar briefed about Breast cancer- Common causes and Is this curable talk, Self-examination of breast and how one can do it and Cervical cancer- Causes and prevention talk.

Breast Cancer and Cervical cancer are ranked as the most frequent cancer in women in India. The higher incidence of cervix cancer is attributed to multiple sex partners, early age of sexual contact and viral infection (HPV). Other factors include unhygienic sexual practices, ignorance about the proper cleaning of the female genitals, paucity of proper toilets, inadequate bathing facilities. Additionally, sedentary lifestyle, unhealthy food consumption, obesity, stress and smoking have also contributed to the rising incidence for breast cancer.

Dr Tanveer Majheed, Oncologist, Zen Multi Specialty Hospital, Chembur, says, “One of the best ways to fight cancer is through early detection. Due to lifestyle modifications, obesity, stress there are more cases of cancer. Through this awareness program we are education women about early detection and awareness.  Now, more than ever, women should be especially concerned about the early detection of breast cancer, as it is the most common among women all over the world. Thus, a regular screening will greatly increase how successful your treatment may be.”
