Punekars get to witness ‘Divya Trilogy’ between February 23-25

The unique dance festival to explore divine concepts through Bharatnatyam

Pune, February 19, 2018: Divinity of the gods and goddesses is often identified by their attributes. Their vehicles, their weapons, theirs favourite colours, favourite flowers are few to count. In a unique dance festival Divya Trilogy- 14 talented Bharatnatyam dancers are going to present these divine concepts through dance performances.

The program conceptualised and curated by Usha RK is organised in Pune by Kalavardhini Charitable trust on February 23, 24 and 25 at Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan auditorium, near Senapati Bapat Road.

Divya Trilogy unfolds three divine attributes- ‘Divya Astra’ or weapons, ‘Divya Vahana’ or vehicles and ‘Divya Pushpa’ or flowers. 14 dancers from Bangalore, Pune, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi are going to make individual dance presentations where each presentation is unique and brought with sincerity.

On the first day of the three day fest, ‘Divya Astra’ will be presented. There are 5 Astras where Pavitra Bhat will present ‘Brahma Astra’, Mithun Shyam will bring ‘Sudarshana Astra’, Parashwanath Upadhyaye will come up with ‘Pinaka Astra’, Parimal Phadke will introduce ‘Pushpa Astra’ and Dakshina Vaidyanathan Baghel will present ‘Trishool’.

On the second day, ‘Divya Vahana’ will be introduced. Dakshina Vaidyanathan Baghel will present ‘Mooshika Vahana’, Shivaranjani Harish will introduce ‘Garuda Vahana’, Soundarya Srivastha will present ‘Nandi Vahana’, Uma Sathyanarayana will come up with ‘Hamsa Vahana’ and Arundhati Patwardhan will present ‘Gaja Vahana’.

On the third and the ending day ‘Divya Pushpam’ will be presented to the audience. Matangi Prasanna will present ‘Parijata’, Rasika Kiran will showcase ‘Nagalinga’, Swarada Bhave will introduce ‘Shankha Pushpa’, Tanya Saxena to present ‘Japaa’ and Navia Natarajan will come up with ‘Kamala’.

Arundhati Patwardhan, Secretary, Kalavardhini Charitable Trust said that the trust has recently celebrated 30 years of it’s inception. ”Hosting such a distinguished program meant a lot to us. The concept curated by Usha RK was challenging for the dancers too. I’m sure that the Punekars will love it and appreciate it.”

Music ensemble is done by DS Srivathsa, Vocal, Ramya Janakiraman, Nattuvangam, R Keshavan, Mridangam, Rajat Prasanna, Flute.
