Rs 65.26 crore scheme finalized for providing drinking water to drought-hit villages

Raipur : :Project to cover 16,134 villages

A drinking water project worth Rs 65 crore 29 lakh had been finalized for the drought-affected regions of Chhattisgarh. The State Government is gearing up to provide drinking water to all the villages where there was deficient rainfall . The Public Health Engineering Department officials said that 115 Development Blocks in 117 tehsils had been identified as water stressed habitats. The region covers 134 villages and 60 thousand 332 habitats. The first phase will conclude on 31 March 2016. An amount of Rs 33 crore 30 lakh had been set apart for the purpose. The second phase will begin on 01 April and last till 15 June and the budget allocated is Rs 31 crore 99 lakh. The drinking water is being arranged through the 3230 ‘Nal-Jal’ yojana.
