Sassoon hospital clerk caught accepting bribe from patient’s family

Pune: Officials from the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Monday arrested a senior clerk from the state government run Sassoon general hospital for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 1400 from a patient’s relative.

ACB officials have identified the accused as Sanjay Laxman Rasale, who worked as senior clerk in the office of medical superintendent of the hospital.

According to ACB, the accused wanted the bribe to examine medical treatment bills of complainant’s wife and submit them to the medical superintendent for concessions/reimbursements. Initially the accused demanded Rs 1600 following which the man lodged a complaint with ACB.  ACB officials caught the accused red handed in the office while accepting the bribe money.

An FIR against Rasale has been registered with Bundgarden police station for offences under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
