Saurav Bandyopadhyay wins Race 2 after battling hard in Ameo Class Round Two

Chennai, July 23, 2019: Volkswagen Motorsport India concluded Round Two of its National Championship Ameo Class 2019 at the Madras Motor Race Track in Chennai today. With the top 12 finishers of Race 1 starting in reversed grid for Race 2, Harsh Seth was on pole followed by Avik Anwar in the first row and Najeeb Shaik and Anuranjan Velmurugan in row two. Harsh made several mistakes on the first lap and dropped down to the 12th place. 

 

The race was packed with action. Avik Anwar took the lead from the first lap and held it all the way till the last lap. Meanwhile, Pratik Sonawane who started on the 12th position climbed up lap by lap and got into the second place by the last lap. Following him was Saurav Bandyopadhyay who also made steady progress through the race to come up to third position all the way from 11th. During the last lap Avik succumbed to pressure from Pratik and Saurav went straight into lead. Pratik also passed Avik to clinch second position, Avik had to finally settle on the third position.

 

Mr. Sirish Vissa, Head of Volkswagen Motorsport India said, “It was a phenomenal race for us.  The top drivers have shown consistent pace and preparations for the races. We are mid-way through the season and the battle for championship is only expected to intensify from here onwards. I am hoping that this extremely close battle continues on to the last race”.

 

Volkswagen Ameo Class 2019 Round 3 and Round 4 will be held in August & October respectively at MMRT.
