We will free Marathwada from drought through the river linking project – CM Fadanavis

 New Delhi dated 15 :The Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadanavis today expressed confidence to free Marathwada from drought in the coming five years through the effective implementation of the river linking projects with the cooperation of the Central and the State Government.

 

The Chief Minister called on the Union Water Resources Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat at the Shramashakti Bhavan todya. The State Water Resources Minister was present at the meeting. Shri Fadanavis briefed the media after the meeting.

 

  The Chief Minister Shri Fadanavis further stated  that the river linking project is a significant measure for the redressal of the drought in Maharashtra and it is planned to draw maximum water into the Godavari basin through the coordination of the Central and the State Government. The Chief Minister Shri Fadanavis further stated  that the Union Water Resources Minister has been briefed in the matter today and a presentation in the matter will be submitted to him. The Chief Minister Shri Fadanavis further stated  that  Marathwada and Northern Maharashtra will be freed of the drought situation by drawing more water into the Godavari basin through the river linking projects.

 

The Chief Minister Shri Fadanavis further stated  that  the Central Government has cooperated very well with the Maharashtra state during the past three years for the irradiation of drought situation and that concrete measures will be taken with the assistance of the Central Government in this respect in the coming days. The Chief Minister Shri Fadanavis further stated  that  drought and agriculture related problems will be discussed in the ensuing meeting of the Policy  Commission (Niti Aayog ) to be held under the Charimanship of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
