Pune, 30th August, 2016: When author Sudha Menon kicked off her WWW (Writing With Women) project in Pune this weekend, it was with the idea of getting women to share their experiences through writing. Joining her on the new journey were former Thermax chairperson, Ms. Anu Aga, Forbes Marshall Foundation head Ms. Rati Forbes, INTACH Pune head, Ms. Arti Kirloskar along with women from other walks of life- teachers, entrepreneurs, women working in the corporate world and teenagers wanting to write about their life.

Saturday morning, the venue, a room awash with sunlight and vistas of greenery outside, reverberated with the sounds of women’s laughter over reminiscences and conversations about family, career, identity, love, motherhood and death.

The day’s writing had all the elements of a great book- drama, humour, intense moments of gut wrenching emotions that came out on paper and some tears even when participants broke down while penning their experiences.

“For long I have wanted to do this project because I firmly believe that we women need a safe haven where we can let down our guard and write about the things that matter to us. WWW Writing With Women is the platform through which women can tell their stories and take strength from the knowledge that we are not alone in what we undergo. There are countless other women who go through the same thing. It is my hope that sharing these experiences with each other will make us stronger, help us forge new bonds and foster empathy and compassion for each one of us. Through WWW I want to ensure that we women get a platform where we can share out life experiences, safe in the knowledge that there will be no judgement about their lives.”

While the WWW events will continue in Pune, plans are also being firmed up to take this to other cities including Mumbai and Bangalore over the next few years.
