‘100 Contractors Provided Forged Documents And Cheated PCMC’

Pimpri Chinchwad, December 9, 2020: In a shocking incident, it has been revealed that Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has received forged documents for various development-related works. Preliminary inquiries have revealed that such malpractices have taken place in about 100 cases.
Several tenders are issued for PCMC city development works. In order to get a job, several contractors submit several documents including a security deposit and bank guarantee.
However, in many departments, especially in the field of architecture, it has been revealed that fake documents were widely used by the contractors.
About 100 such cases have come to light in the current year. There is a strong possibility that this has happened in the past in many works.
This scam of forged documents has caused a stir amongst the citizens. The contractors are believed to have taken the initiative due to political blessings and covert support of the authorities.
A year ago, MLA Anna Bansode and MLA Laxman Jagtap had informed the commissioner about this and had demanded that criminal action should be taken against those who cheated the municipality and blacklisted the concerned contractors. However, no action was taken against anyone.
“Some cases of forged documents being used in obtaining works have come to light. A thorough investigation is being carried out in that regard. Appropriate action will be taken against the culprits. Care will be taken to ensure that such cases do not occur again”, said Rajan Patil, City Engineer.
