Pune, October 4: After a successful first edition where a group of city women joined her to learn the process of writing their life stories last month, Author Sudha Menon is back with the second edition of Writing With Women, on October 8.
WWW is a unique project that brings women from diverse backgrounds and age groups together to share their experiences through writing and telling their stories. “When women write down their stories, it is not just about them. Through their stories we get a peek at social milieu of the times- family structures, gender equations….Unfortunately, far few women think of documenting their experiences,” the author of books about the journeys of women including Legacy and Leading Ladies: Women Who Inspire India says.
The workshop will encourage and handhold women to write about various facets of their lives including love, laughter, the small miracles of life, the circus that women undertake while playing their different roles perfectly. They will learn to write with sensitivity and courage about emotions such as boundless joy and the wrench of irreplaceable loss and pen stories about the relationships she forged over the years.
“Today’s women have discovered their identity, are chasing their dreams with passion and straining to break the chains of societal expectations, stereotypes and conservative norms. Now, more than ever, I think it is important for us women to get together, share our experiences and write about them because if we don’t, we are in the danger of losing the stuff that our future generations, especially our daughters, can learn from,” Menon says.
