Nation, December 29, 2020: Indian National Congress (INC) celebrated its 136th foundation day on Monday. The absence of former President Rahul Gandhi on this occasion made quite a buzz and became the target of opposition. Meanwhile, in absence of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul — Priyanka Gandhi came out as a savior and addressed the party workers.

Targeting the government in her address, she stated, “it is a sin to use the words which are being asserted for the farmers, and the government must listen to them and revoke the farm bills”. Recently Priyanka Gandhi sat on a dharna on farmers’ issue and was detained by Delhi police.

It is not the first time when Priyanka Gandhi came out as the saviour for the party. According to the internal sources of AICC, Gandhi played an essential role in raising the party from the crisis in Rajasthan. Although Sonia Gandhi sent KC Venugopal, Randip Surjewaala, Ajay Maakhan to manage the situation, she contacted Sachin Pilot personally and discussed the issues with other dissatisfied leaders.

A few days back, Kamal Nath, the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, urged her to meet the disgruntled leaders. She not only persuaded Sonia Gandhi to meet them but also contacted several senior leaders personally. Sources said that Priyanka Gandhi played a positive and constructive role in the party’s internal meeting on December 19 at Sonia Gandhi’s residence. A party leader said, “she reassured the disgruntled leaders and urged them to work together to strengthen the party”.
