140 Indians to land in Pune from Afghanistan, 140 Afghans to return tomorrow

Pune, May 16, 2020: The Government of India and Afghanistan will facilitate the travel of 140 of their citizens tomorrow, Sunday. A special flight will bring 140 Indians from Kabul to Pune and take back an equal number of Afghan citizens from here. All over the world, governments are facilitating the travel of their citizens who are stranded because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

According to officials, Afghanistan’s KAM airline will land at Pune International Airport around noon and depart back at 1.30 pm. Due to lockdown, many Afghanistan nationals are stuck here. Also, some cadets from the National Defence Academy (NDA) will return to their home country.

Earlier on 18th April, 125 Bahrain nationals, mostly students, had boarded the flight from Pune airport. The special flight had come from Bahrain to Pune and picked up more citizens from Chennai before going back to Bahrain. The authorities had made arrangements for the thermal screening of all the passengers before they boarded the aircraft. Also, CISF, Custom, and other officials were wearing personal protection equipment (PPE) suit. There will be similar arrangements at the Pune airport tomorrow.
