Pune, 13th December 2024: Ananya Garg has capped off a remarkable debut season on the Women’s Golf Association of India (WGAI) Tour by winning the prestigious Rookie of the Year 2024 award. At just 17 years old, the talented golfer has firmly established herself as one of the brightest young stars in Indian golf.

Garg’s meteoric rise began when she turned professional earlier this year, surpassing all expectations. Finishing an impressive 9th on the WGAI Order of Merit, she demonstrated remarkable consistency and determination well beyond her years.

“It’s an honor to receive the Rookie of the Year award,” said Garg. “This season has been a whirlwind of learning, competing, and growing as a player. I’m incredibly grateful to my Poona Club golf course, my team, family, and supporters who have been with me every step of the way.”

A standout moment of Garg’s season was her performance at the Hero Women’s Indian Open, part of the Ladies European Tour. Competing against 114 professionals from 31 countries, she tied for 46th place, making the midway cut—a significant achievement in her rookie year. The experience boosted her confidence and showcased her ability to compete against some of the world’s top golfers.

Having started playing golf at the age of 8, Garg’s rise has been nothing short of extraordinary. Her success this season reflects her technical skill, unwavering focus, and composure under pressure. Finishing inside the top 10 on the Order of Merit in her debut season is a testament to her hard work and immense potential.

Looking ahead to 2025, Garg is already setting her sights on greater achievements, including more wins and potentially breaking into international rankings. “This is just the beginning. There’s so much more I want to achieve, and I’m excited for what lies ahead,” she said with determination.
