19-Year-Old Laborer Dies After Falling Into Lift Shaft at Pune Construction Site
Yewalewadi, 20th December 2024: A 19-year-old labourer died after falling from the seventh floor into a lift duct during the construction of a building in Pune. The incident occurred at a construction site in Yewalewadi on 24th November at around 7 PM. A case has been registered against one individual at Kondhwa police station in connection with the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Sunny Daktar Soni (19), a resident of Yewalewadi. A complaint was filed by his father, Daktar Soni (41), a resident of Uttar Pradesh. According to the police, construction is ongoing at the Pyramid Construction Site in Yewalewadi, where the complainant’s family works and resides in the labour colony.
On 24th November, around 7 PM, Sunny went to the seventh floor of the building and fell into the open lift shaft, sustaining severe injuries. Despite medical treatment, he was declared dead on yesterday.
A case has been registered against the responsible individual for negligence regarding worker safety. Assistant Police Inspector Rakesh Jadhav is leading the investigation.
