20-Year-Old Rescued from Riverbed by Pune Fire Brigade’s Swift Action
Erandwane, 23rd, June 2025: A 20-year-old youth trapped in a swollen riverbed near D.P. Road in Erandwane was rescued in a timely operation by the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Fire Brigade early Monday morning.
The incident occurred around 8:30 AM near Pandit Farm when the Erandwane Fire Station received an emergency call reporting that a young man was stranded in the river. A rescue team was immediately dispatched to the site.
Using life jackets, ropes, and a rescue ring, fire personnel successfully pulled the youth to safety within ten minutes of arriving at the location.
The youth has been identified as Vedant Kulkarni, a resident of Erandwane. He was immediately transported to Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment via a Maharashtra government ambulance.
Local police have launched an investigation into the incident to determine how the individual ended up in the river.
With monsoon conditions prevailing, the Fire Department has issued a public advisory urging citizens to maintain a safe distance from rivers and other water bodies to avoid such potentially life-threatening situations.
