22 new Coronavirus cases in Pimpri Chinchwad today take total tally to 226

Pimpri, May 18, 2020: There was a massive jump in new COVID patients in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) today. Out of 22 fresh cases, 18 are from Anandnagar slum near Chinchwad railway station. Today six patients were discharged from hospital after getting fully recovered.

According to PCMC, the total number of Corona patients has reached 226 out of which 131 have been cured while four have died. There are still 91 active patients undergoing treatment in hospitals. Apart from Anandanagar, one new COVID patient was detected in Rahatani, Bhosari, Dighi and Bhatnagar. Out of 30 patients from Pune, 10 have been cured while 8 have died. There are still 12 active patients.

Anandnagar slum is located between the highway and railway line in Chinchwad. About 2000 people are residing in huts and concrete homes there. After two positive patients were found, samples of others were also collected. Today 18 of them were detected with COVID19.
