24×7 Helpdesks to Be Set Up at Pune’s Swargate and Shivajinagar ST Depots

Pune, 3rd March 2025: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will establish round-the-clock helpdesks at Swargate and Shivajinagar bus depots by the end of this week to enhance commuter safety and address passenger concerns, officials from the MSRTC Pune division confirmed.
Divisional Controller Pramod Nehul stated, “These helpdesks will function 24 hours a day to assist passengers. We are finalizing the setup, and the facilities should be operational within the next 2-3 days. We are also evaluating the possibility of expanding this initiative to other depots.”
Security Measures Following Swargate Incident
The move comes in the wake of a recent incident at Swargate depot, where a woman health counsellor was sexually assaulted inside an ST bus. In response, the transport body has announced several enhanced security measures, including improved lighting, additional security personnel, and an increased number of CCTV cameras.
Nehul emphasized the critical role of the new helpdesks, explaining, “These kiosks will be staffed at all times, ensuring immediate assistance for passengers facing issues. Any complaints will be escalated for prompt action. Additionally, travelers seeking information about bus services can also approach these counters.”
He further added that Swargate depot will soon have two female security guards deployed in two shifts—from 6 am to 2 pm and from 2 pm to 10 pm. A request for additional female security personnel has also been submitted.
Strengthening Surveillance and Security
At present, Swargate depot is monitored by 23 CCTV cameras, with plans to install 17 more. Shivajinagar depot will also receive additional security upgrades, including improved surveillance systems. The installation of the new cameras is expected to be completed within six weeks.
Officials reiterated that all security personnel have been instructed to remain extra vigilant, ensuring passenger safety, especially during late hours.
