28 teams of NDRF press for relief work in flood affected areas : Subhash Deshmukh

Mumbai, August 8/8/2019 : Efforts are being taken on war footings for handling and mitigating the flood situation in Kolhapur and Sangli districts. 28 teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) had been pressed into service said relief and Rehabilitation Minister Mr Subhash Deshmukh.

Deployment of NDRF teams in the state

18 teams of NDRF functioning in the state, five teams from Odisha and equal number of teams from Bhatinda have been called on for the relief work. The 28 teams are engaged in the relief work are distributed as follows:-

Sangli- 11, Kolhapur- 6, Mumbai- 3, Nashik-1, Pune-1, Palghar-1, Raigadp-1, Sindhudurg-1, Satara-1, Nagpur-1.

Besides this, one team from Dhule NDRF had been send to Kolhapur and two teams for Sangli. The cost gaurd has also been deployed for the relief work. Two teams and four boats of coast guard and one boat of NDRF have started towards Kolhapur from Mumbai. Five additional teams of NDRF had been demanded. In response to this, three teams have been sent with immediate effect.

The disaster management cell in Mumbai, Mantralaya is being keeping a close eye on the flood situation in Sangli and Kolhapur. The relief and Rehabilitation department secretary Kishor Raje Nimbalkar and Abhay Yawalkar, the director of state disaster management cell are continuously taking the information about the disaster from the entire state. The teams for relief work are deployed in the flood hit areas as per the demands from various regions of the state to overcome and mitigate the flood situation, continuous review of the situation is also being taken.
