Pune, 4th February 4, 2025: In a bid to speed up administrative processes and improve efficiency, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has introduced a seven-point program for the next 100 days. One of the key initiatives under this program is the expedited provision of new water supply connections by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). From now on, the Municipal Corporation will provide water supply connections within just three days of receiving a completed application.

The Water Supply Department has issued an office order to implement this new directive, which aims to streamline the process for new constructions and properties. The order has been communicated to all Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, Deputy Engineers, and Junior Engineers of the Water Supply Department, with instructions for immediate implementation.

Previously, the Water Supply Department required numerous documents to approve a new water supply connection. These documents included the application form, ownership papers, approved construction map, colony water line details, occupancy letter, previous water connection bill (if applicable), and a variety of other certifications.

However, due to the complexity of this process, many citizens opted for unauthorized water connections. In response, the Municipal Corporation took action last year by simplifying the document requirements. Now, only the registration of ownership and property tax documents are needed to apply for a new connection.

To ensure the smooth implementation of the new initiative, the Water Supply Department will approve water connections only for those applications that are complete and have valid documents. If any documents are missing or unclear, or if the application is incomplete, approval will not be granted within the three-day period.

It is important to note that while the administrative approval will be granted within three days, it may still take some time to provide the actual water connection. Additionally, the Municipal Corporation will maintain a separate record for these newly approved water connections.

This new initiative is expected to enhance the efficiency of water supply connections in Pune, benefiting homeowners and developers by reducing wait times and minimizing bureaucratic hurdles.
