3 injured in explosion at DRDO lab in Pune

An accident has taken place in Igniter Complex of High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL), the main DRDO laboratory that is involved in basic and applied research in all areas of high energy materials, Sutarwadi, Pashan, in Pune on 22nd Dec 2015 at around noon. during mixing operation.
The mixing operation was being carried out under the supervision of HEMRL officials. Three contract workers got burn injuries. Out of which two were involved in the mixing operation having more than 3 years of experience in this field, and the third one went to hand over a solvent bottle to them. All the three workers were taken to MI Room immediately for preliminary treatment and afterwards they were shifted to City Hospital.
HEMRL officials stated that prima facie all the safety norms were adhered to, however, to find out the exact cause of accident, DRDO HQ has ordered an enquiry committee.
