3,000 Students Unite in Song: Vande Mataram Echoes Through Pune

Sadashiv Peth, 20th December 2024: In a remarkable display of patriotism and national unity, 3,000 school students gathered on the grounds of SP College in Pune to sing the iconic song Vande Mataram. The event, organized as part of the Hindu Seva Mahotsav by the Hindu Spiritual Service Organization, transformed the venue into a resonating symbol of India’s rich heritage and collective spirit.

The air vibrated with chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Jai Hind” as the young voices rose in unison, creating a moving atmosphere of pride and patriotism. The collective rendition of Vande Mataram, composed by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and set to music by Rabindranath Tagore, left the audience inspired and emotional.

The event also featured a unique Veer Mata, Veer Patni Samman ceremony to honor the mothers and wives of martyrs. Several dignitaries graced the occasion, including Major General Amar Krishna (retd), National Coordinator of the Hindu Spiritual Service Organization Gunwant Kothari, Organization President Ashok Gundecha, Festival President Krishna Kumar Goyal of Kohinoor Group, General Secretary Kishore Yenpure, Wing Commander Vinayak Daware (retd), Archana Singh, and ex-serviceman Sunil Kale.

During the ceremony, the history of Vande Mataram was narrated, delving into its significance as a song that inspired India’s freedom fighters and continues to symbolize national unity. The highlight of the program was the synchronized performance by the students, whose voices carried the essence of the song’s spirit to the hearts of all present.

Ashok Gundecha, addressing the gathering, emphasized that the program was organized to instill a deep sense of patriotism in the students. “The aim was to inspire the youth by recounting the creation and legacy of Vande Mataram as a symbol of our collective unity and pride,” he said.

 

Major General Amar Krishna (retd) urged the students to focus on character building. “A strong character is the foundation of nation-building. Honesty, discipline, and integrity are essential values for anyone who wishes to contribute meaningfully to their country,” he remarked.

The event left a profound impact, reminding everyone of the sacrifices made by the nation’s heroes and the enduring relevance of Vande Mataram. It celebrated not just the song but also the unifying power of patriotism, inspiring young minds to carry forward the torch of national pride.
