33rd Annual CME and Installation of Managing Council 2018-19 of POGS

Pune Obstetric and Gynaecological Society organized its 33rd Annual CME and Installation of Managing Council 2018-19 at Sheraton Grand Hotel on 21 and 22 April 2018 . The theme of the CME was Pregnancy and Labour Care with deliberations completely based on Obstetrics . Every minute detail from Pre-Conception to Post Partum issues were discussed in depth along with exchange of practical guidelines . Madhuri Patel delivered the key note address om cervical circlage in modern obstetrics while Chief Guest of Installation and Inauguration ceremony Prof Alka Kriplani gave the FOGSI FIGO BBC POGS oration on Caesarian Myomectomy.
Advocate Ujjwal Nikam was the Guest of Honour. POGS Newsletter SPECULUM was released at the hands of the Chief Guest Alka Kriplani .
Advocate Ujjwal Nikam said that we should know the difference between knowledge and wisdom . Citing the recent spate of attacks on doctors he said that Law takes action , but when the incidents happen you have to tackle the situation . Many a times inspite of best of efforts you may not be able to save a patient and there may be couple of people in the group of relatives who might be aggressive . And to tackle the situation doctors should be able to pin point these possible aggressive persons and get the message across with proper communication . Self Confidence ,ability to anticipate , ability to draw Inference , mental strength and presence of mind is a must for professions like Doctors and Lawyers . Self Confidence is the most important thing , umbrella can’t stop the rain but assists

us to

stand in the rain . Likewise self confidence gives inspiration to move forward .

Dr Alka Kriplani congratulated the new management council and hailed the work of Dr Bharati Dhore Patil in various associations.

She added that associations should unite so that we can be self protective .

Dr Bharati Dhore Patil who took charge as the President Of POGS introduced the new management council to the audience which includes Dr Milind Dugad as General Secretary and Dr Mangala Wani as Clinical Secretary , Dr Madhav Kankawale as treasurer , Dr Ashish Kale as Vice President and Dr Pankaj Sarode as Executive Vice President,Dr Ashwini Kale as Joint Secretary , Dr Chaitanya Ganpule as Joint Clinical Secretary , Dr Archana Pungaliya as Joint Treasurer as amongst others .
She said the theme for this year at POGS is Just Care for Her based on connect , adore , respect and elevate. She added that we would strive to increase member ship from the current 786 to 1000 this year. The important initiatives includes formation of Young brigade committee for upcoming consultants , Multi centric study centres across pune , formation of POGS committee and 11 other committees to conduct various programs . POGS will also start six awards to encourage excellence amongst members which include Lifetime achievement award , national achiever award , yuva research award , best conference award , best senior gynaecologist and best service to society award .
Outgoing President Dr Nishikant Shrotri elaborating on the achievements of the year

said that

Upgradation of POGS office , starting of POGS payment gateway are also on the cards .

Outgoing General Secretary Meenu Agarwal gave a report on activities conducted during the last year and informed that the number of POGS members increased from 635 to more than 750 this year .
ICOG Secretary Dr Parag Binniwale gave an overview and activities of ICOG .
