39 Maharashtra Officers Recognized with President’s Police Medal; ACP Who Led Investigation in Pune Porsche Case Included

New Delhi, 25th January 2025: Four senior police officers from Maharashtra, including Special Inspector General Sunil Phulari of Kolhapur Range, have been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service on the eve of India’s 76th Republic Day. Additionally, 39 officers from Maharashtra have been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
The distinguished service medal recipients include:
– Sunil Phulari, Special Inspector General of Kolhapur Range
– Vivek Zende, Additional Superintendent of Kolhapur Central Prison
– Sunil Tambe, Deputy Superintendent of Prisons Department
– Ahmad Shamsuddin Maner, Constable of Sangli District Prison
Among the meritorious service medal recipients are:
– Tulshiram Gorve, Constable of Sangli District Prison
– Ganesh Gaikwad, Constable of Yerawada Central Prison
– Daulatrao Jadhav, Constable of Yerawada Central Prison
– Pralhad Kudale, Constable of Prison Officers Training College
Sunil Phulari has been recognized for his leadership in managing law and order across five districts under the Kolhapur Range: Pune, Sangli, Satara, Solapur, and Kolhapur. He played a crucial role in maintaining social harmony during caste-related tensions and reservation-related protests in various areas.
Sunil Tambe, currently serving in the vigilance department of prisons, joined the police force in 1989 as a sub-inspector. Throughout his 36-year career, he has received over 400 commendations. Tambe’s notable achievements include solving a high-profile theft case and leading a team that seized mephedrone worth ₹3,600 crore in Kurkumbh industrial area. He was also the investigating officer in the Pune Kalyani Nagar Porsche incident.
The awards recognize these officers’ exceptional contributions to maintaining law and order, solving complex cases, and their dedicated service in various challenging postings throughout their careers.
