3D Printers can be effectively used for affordable housing – Italian Architect Enrico Dini

Pune 21 February 2019: Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Sanstha’s Dr.Bhanuben Nanavati College of Architecture for Women (BNCA) recently organized an informative session on 3D printing. This session was organized as a part of visit by founders of Italian-D-Shape company and Italian Architects Enrico Dini and Paolo Carboni to the recently established 3DPrinter  , CD scanner and Robotic Arm at the FAB LAB at BNCA . BNCA Principal Dr. Anurag Kashyap, Dr. Shubhada Kamalapurkar Head of Education Department  and Head of Department of Digital Architecture Prof. Dhanashree Sardeshpande were present on the occasion .
 
On his second visit to India , Enrico Dini, said while the 3D printing technology is been extensively used worldwide in the developed countries. India is on a threshold of change but the rapid urbanization and increasing population will have it’s challenges .  Since this technology is cost effective , it can be effectively used especially in India for those in need of affordable homes by using the resources available here.
 
Prof . Dr Anurag Kashyap said that Architect Dini is a pioneer of  this revolutionary technology which he developed in the most challenging of circumstances. He is an example for architecture students to follow. Citing the example of use of this technology in building toilets with soil in Bihar with Japanese help  , he said that the use of 3D printing technology is becoming a very important constituent in the new Indian Architecture and will only increase hereon.
 
 
 
Prof. Sardeshpande said that digital technologies are being is looked with skepticism  in architecture curricullum
He said  technology is going to completely alter the way we live .The time calls for appropriation of Digital technologies  technology and Enrico dini with his appropriated 3D printer uses sand salt water and other binders to produce customizes arch solutions. This is a very promising way forward
