4.30 AM Raid in Viman Nagar: Pune Police Find Illegal Liquor Party, 6 Women Among 30 Detained
Viman Nagar, 26th August 2026: The Airport Police have registered a case against the owners, manager and four employees of a hotel in Viman Nagar after allegedly finding an unauthorised liquor and music party underway during an early-morning raid. Police seized liquor and a sound system collectively valued at ₹17,690.
The action was taken under ‘Mission Crackdown’ launched by DCP (Zone 7) Abinash Kumar.
The raid was conducted at Back Benchers Hotel on Airport Road in Sakore Nagar, Viman Nagar, at around 4.30 am on August 24. According to the FIR, police allegedly found several men and women consuming alcohol while loud music was playing. Some of those present were also allegedly dancing.
Police said the hotel had allegedly organised the music party without permission, continued operating beyond the prescribed hours and violated prohibitory orders issued by the Pune police commissioner. The establishment was also allegedly supplying alcohol to customers without the required licence.
The seven people named as accused are hotel partners Nitin Diwakar Jadhav (43) and Yuvraj Pramod Naidu (34), manager Dipak Ramchandra Kamble (35), and employees Dipak Ramesh Kalekar (26), Sagar Uttam Vishwas (22), Surabato Supal Sarkar (20) and Uttam Kishanapada Mandal (29).
According to the FIR, Police Sub-Inspector Navnath Kshirsagar received information from an informant that liquor was being sold at the hotel. The information was conveyed to Police Inspector (Crime) Mahesh Bolke, Senior Police Inspector Govind Jadhav and Police Inspector Gite, following which additional personnel were called in and a raid was planned in the presence of two witnesses.
When the police team entered the hotel, it allegedly found a large gathering of men and women consuming alcohol. Police said liquor was being served at the counter and loud music was playing through a speaker system.
During questioning, Nitin Jadhav allegedly told police that he and Yuvraj Naidu operated the hotel in partnership. Police said Jadhav was unable to produce a licence authorising the hotel to sell or serve alcohol.
The seized liquor included bottles of Bacardi Lemonade, Breezer Tangy Cranberry, Royal Challenge, Royal Stag, Kingfisher Premium, Kingfisher Ultra and Carlsberg Elephant. Empty bottles of several beer and liquor brands were also found on tables, according to the FIR.
The liquor stock was valued at ₹7,690, while a Proex multimedia tower speaker valued at ₹10,000 was also seized. Samples from the liquor bottles were sealed and retained for chemical analysis.
Police found 30 customers—24 men and six women—at the party, the FIR stated. Breathalyser tests conducted on the six women returned positive results for alcohol consumption. They were released after being warned, while the 24 men were sent to Sassoon General Hospital for medical examinations in connection with the case.
Airport Police registered FIR No. 395/2026 under Sections 223 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Sections 65(e), 68 and 83 of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, and Sections 33 and 131 of the Maharashtra Police Act.
The complaint was lodged by Police Constable Swapnil Bhanudas Ghuge, who was on patrol duty with Police Head Constable Shrikant Kurukelli. The raid involved Police Inspector (Crime) Mahesh Bolke, Police Sub-Inspectors Navnath Kshirsagar and Lavhale, Police Head Constables Ganesh Mali, Rajesh Salunkhe and Jadhav, Woman Police Head Constable Darwade, Woman Police Constable Mavale, and police personnel Kamble, Nanekar, Ginhe and Tompe, along with other staff members.
