New Delhi, 17th May 2025: Air travel plans of hundreds of passengers were disrupted on Saturday as 49 flights were delayed and 11 flights cancelled at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, Delhi. The delays and cancellations primarily affected outbound flights, while arriving flights remained largely on schedule.
According to airport officials, the delays included 16 international departures and 33 domestic departures. Notably, no arriving flights—domestic or international—were delayed, offering limited relief amid widespread schedule disruptions.
11 Departures Cancelled, None on Arrival
Of the 11 flights cancelled, two were international departures, while the remaining nine were domestic. No incoming flights were cancelled.
Among the cancelled domestic flights, the breakdown includes:
Three from Srinagar
Two from Dehradun
One each from Bhatinda, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai
Passengers Left Stranded
Passengers affected by the delayed and cancelled flights were left waiting at the airport, with many expressing frustration over a lack of timely communication from airlines. Those on unaffected flights, particularly arrivals, experienced smoother operations.
Authorities have not cited a specific reason for the disruptions, but sources indicate operational or weather-related factors may have played a role. Airlines are expected to issue updated advisories for affected passengers.
