594 Cases Detected, Rs 2.11 Lakh Fine Collected in Pune Division’s Ticket Checking Drive at Patas

Pune, 17th June 2025: Pune Division of Central Railway conducted a large-scale ambush ticket checking drive at Patas railway station on 16 June 2025, resulting in the detection of 594 cases and recovery of ₹2,11,380 in penalties.

The drive was carried out under the supervision of Divisional Commercial Manager Hemant Kumar Behera. As part of the operation, 16 trains—7 on the Down platform and 9 on the Up platform—were given five-minute halts each for thorough inspection. The checking process was completed without any disruption to train schedules.

The deployment included 1 officer (DCM), 1 supervisor (CTI HQ Pune), 28 ticket checking staff, and 13 Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel. The teams checked all coaches of the trains, strictly enforcing ticketing rules.

Enforcement Summary:

Passengers without tickets: 521
Fine collected: ₹1,86,015

Irregular ticket cases: 62
Penalty recovered: ₹23,435

Unbooked luggage cases: 11
Fine recovered: ₹1,930

Total cases: 594
Total penalty collected: ₹2,11,380

On average, each ticket checking staff member dealt with around 21 cases and collected ₹7,549 in penalties.

Divisional Commercial Manager Hemant Kumar Behera stated, “The Pune Division is consistently working to strengthen ticketing enforcement and ensure fair travel for all passengers. We appeal to the travelling public to purchase proper tickets before boarding and support Indian Railways in its efforts to curb ticketless travel.”
